Keratiloe Mogotsi is the “Key Kindler”, a philanthropy advocate and pracademic who educates and coaches on sustainable development through experiential learning to support economic reform with social entrepreneurship and contribute to sustainable development through social responsibility. She is the managing partner of Neo Afrique Investments, a privately held social purpose entity that inspires a vision of a connected world, a shared prosperity, and a belief in a “African solutions by Africans, for Africa” mindset.

She is the recipient of fundraising and grants awarded from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the WITS University Chancellors’ Academic Fellowship. Keratiloe is a sought after thought leader who has contributed through publications, seminars, conferences, and workshops on a number of topics related to African Gifting, Business Innovation, and Venture Philanthropy, to name a few. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Sustainable business and Sustainable Development at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Her academic citizenship continues with WITS University in her capacity as African Philanthropy Lecturer and research supervisor.

Recently, Keratiloe received the esteemed Ruth Green Award for the best international case outside of North America entitled South Africa’s Solidarity Fund: Navigating the shores of uncertainty and crisis at the NACRA (North American Case Research Association) 2023 conference in San Antonio, Texas. Together with Lucy Khofi, Keratiloe is collaborating on a research project to document the work of the Female Academic Leaders Fellowship NPC (FALF) and its impact in developing a pipeline of female academic leaders. This research project was presented at the Senegal Academic Conference and reviews the local interventions of FALF with more than 70 fellows between 2021 and 2023.  She has contributed as an inspirational speaker at the Southern Africa Youth Forum and featured as an expert guest on talk radio Power FM and Rainbow FM speaking on African Philanthropy.

Keratiloe earned her Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Marketing from Monash University in Johannesburg. Her academic journey continued with WITS University where she went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Journalism and Media Studies, a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Business Sciences Marketing (graduating summa cum laude), a Master of Commerce in Management and Marketing Information Technology and was ultimately conferred with a PhD in Business Administration and Philanthropy from WITS University.

As a philanthropy advocate, she continues to feature on various industry platforms and convenings and is widely recognized as a leading expert on matters pertaining to social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and social responsibility. Keratiloe is best known for kindling creative thinking and inspiring impact-driven action. In her day-to-day, she helps individuals and teams locate themselves in relation to societal challenges, to recognise their own potential, and create pathways to social impact and shared value creation.
